She walks with a lantern

Of light

That shines

So brightly

It interrupts

Darkness

With its vast

Reach

She searches for

People

Stuck in darkness

For she knows the

Path out

She’s walked through

Sorrow

She’s walked through

Lies

She’s walked through

Abuse

All the while

Marking the path

For her to return

One day

With her lantern

Of light

To search for those

Not able to get out

To search for those

Who cannot see

To search for those

Who cannot feel

And the day

Arrives

When her heart

Forgives

And she starts to walk

Back on that path

But this time

She knows it

She’s marked it

It does not scare her

For she does not

Walk alone

She walks with

An army of souls

Marching in unison

To the direction of her

Footsteps

For she shines her

Lantern of light

Searching for people

Left in darkness

And she finds them

It is her words

And her experiences

That surround

And comfort

Those who are

Hurting

They may not take

Any hand that offers

But they will take hers

For they see her

Lantern of light

And know that

In order to hold such light

One must know such darkness

And so they follow her

On the path

In the light

The lantern of light

That she shines

Towards

The path to forgiveness

The path to freedom     

All the while

Holding her hand

That she reaches back

To let them know

God did not

Abandon them

For he sent

Her

The one with the lantern

Of light.
